Meet the team
Rj Menzies, a Sydney-based Drug and Alcohol Counsellor, has diligently fortified his academic credentials with a suite of specialised certifications tailored to the AOD domain. Notable achievements include Certificate IV in Mental Health, Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, and an ongoing Bachelor of Psychology and Counselling through Edith Cowen University. Menzies’ professional development is further underscored by his participation in various seminars, workshops, and conferences, such as the Rethink Addiction Convention and the Understanding and Healing Trauma Through Psychedelic-assisted Therapy webinar. Additionally, he has attained a Diploma of Art Therapy, a Trauma Informed Certificate for Coaches, a Certificate of Play Therapy, and an Accredited EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping Practitioner credential, among numerous others. Before pivoting to drug and alcohol counselling, Menzies honed a broad spectrum of management skills during a decade-long tenure in the hospitality/tourism industry, where he navigated diverse challenges from logistics to guest relations. Since his personal journey into AOD recovery, Menzies has been steadfast in his commitment to personal growth, abstinence, and aiding others on their rehabilitation journeys. This commitment is reflected not only in his academic pursuits but also in his hands-on experience at various institutions, including the Wayside Chapel and the Uniting Medically Supervised Injecting Centre. As a testament to his dedication, Menzies has founded Narcotics Anonymous meetings, volunteered extensively, and operated recovery-focused online platforms. With a vision to merge his managerial acumen with his counselling expertise, Menzies aspires to oversee Residential Rehab facilities in the future.
